Pinball Coffee Table
Last year I went through the process of making this coffee table as a gift for the missus. Now you know why my movie watching was down so much! It was a fun and instructional (and sometimes frustrating) experience, and I wrote it up for the uber-cool website Instructables which offers a place to provide step-by-step instructions for DIY projects. From this posting I started a very minor meme, which went to the MAKE magazine blog and then to the front page of boingboing! It has also been picked up at about a dozen other blogs that I’ve found, plus I’ve been linked on del.icio.us 60 times! Probably about as close as I’ll ever get to fifteen minutes of fame.

It’s a really great idea. I should know because I made my own. Even if you didn’t come up with the idea (you said it was based on a Seattle shop’s tables), you still took the time to document the process which is pretty admirable.
As for the fireball, it wasn’t functional and if it didn’t get made into a table, it probably would have ended up in the trash.
Once again, thanks for the idea to do this. It’s really cool and it gets quite the reaction.
