Princess Raccoon
For those who don’t know, I work at The Seattle Times. My job rocks, I generally love the shit out of it. In addition to the main Seattle Times website, there is a network of other sites which are run by the company - NWSource and NWClassifieds. Some weeks ago the editorial guy for NWSource approached me and asked if I was interested in writing some pieces about SIFF movies for the NWSource blog since he knew I was into films, and I said sure. The only rule was I can only write about films that have another showing coming up, I assume this is to get in the good graces of SIFF’s PR department. So while I would have loved the opportunity to write a long piece on Wordplay (which I loved to death, more on that later) I couldn’t because we saw the last showing. However, I did manage to scrape together some poorly articulated thoughts on Princess Raccon. This is my first formally published writing in about 15 years. I’ll continue to post those links here rather than blogging those films as the fest progresses. Enjoy.

Nicely done, Mr. Dunlap. Now get cracking on Wordplay. I want to hear why you loved it so much and then further rankle you with my feedback.

Dude I’ve been working at The Times for like 8 months, even back at your Super Bowl party! Maybe I was only talking to Martin about it. Anyways thanks all, the guy is already pressuring me for more stuff.

Dude, that editor is always pressuring me to do stuff. “Write more.” “Show up for work at 9.” “Wake up.” Say no to editorial oppression!
