Films Today: 3
Running Total: 30
Had some schedule changes today, but it was all for the best it seems. First went to the Chuck Chaplin classic The Gold Rush. Most of my silent comedy time has been spent on Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd, this was only the second Chaplin I’ve seen and I didn’t like [...]

I forgot to mention in the entry on The Puffy Chair that there was a short preceding it that was very good called I Am (Not) Van Gogh by David Russo. It was largely filmed at Bumbershoot last year, and it contains some really cool and fascinating stop motion animation done [...]

6/5 was a day off, with no films. Urban Scarecrow was scheduled but we couldn’t face a 9:30 showing. If there’s one lesson learned from this SIFF it is to ease off on the late night showings on weekdays.
6/6 we had two screenings. First was Hell, directed by Danis Tanovic (who [...]

Second Sunday of SIFF, and the second Secret Fest film. No real comments, but the film was fun and entertaining. Secret Fest has far surpassed last year already and we’re only two films in. Thumbs up SIFF programmers.
Second film was a Roya pick - The Puffy Chair. Now I wil say [...]

I have another piece published on the NWSource blog this week. No film this time, its about a far more important topic - the best places to play pinball in Seattle. I’m kind of bummed I didn’t write more about the fest for the blog. I tried a couple times but it just never came [...]

Man I am officially two weeks behind on my SIFF blogging. I got off to such a good start too. However I guarantee to you, my 3 dedicated readers, that I will put down some mediocre rantings about every day and every film of the fest [...]

Right after I got out of college, a friend of mine named Rob invited me to join his band Buzzmuscle. We made a couple singles and recorded an LP which never came out. One of the singles looked like bacon. In order to do this, Rob and I set up a makeshift copy stand in [...]

I was totally fried today as predicted. I ended up taking off a bit early from work so I could beat the traffic to Bellevue, and since I got there a couple hours before the movie I took a little nap in my car. Ah yes, the glamorous film festival lifestyle.
Speaking [...]

I knew we were entering a tough stretch here. Two movies tonight at 7 and 9, then work in the morning, then across the great beyond to the Eastside for another movie tomorrow night. Life’s tough, I know.
Today was Rossellini day - The Flowers Of St Francis and Rome, Open City [...]

It was another long walk to NWFF from work today. No pre-show excitement like yesterday thankfully. The lineup was two shorter features - 42 and 50 minutes each. The first was How Little We Know Of Our Neighbors, an interesting look at a movement in Britain called Mass Observation. These guys [...]
